Stories of 2019 #41: Happy Galentines

Happy Galentine’s Day 2019!

Queue some oldies but goodies…

Galentines, palentines, (early) valentines – however you want to spend it, today is a day for showing a bit of love to your friends. Or, an excuse to eat some extra chocolate! Which I have successfully achieved.

Imagine a world where you did not have your best friend or your group of friends who you have been through thick and thin with? Who would you share them embarrassing moments with or spending hours texting about boys with or find yourself laughing for hours over nothing with? Life would not be the same. I mean I cannot tag myself in memes on Facebook and that is why we have friends is it not?! Joking. No, my friends are amazing. They hold all my secrets, they nudge me in the right direction, push me out of my comfort zone and pick me up when I am down and I love every single one of them!

For me, I have found that quality over quantity is important when it comes to your friends. I do not have tons of friends but I have four who I hold dear. At various points in your life friends can change, you gain some and you grow apart from some, but three of my friends have stuck with me through it all and one, a later edition in my life, I know will be there for the rest.

I wish I was spending palentines with them all, cooking dinner, drinking gin and tonics and laughing about things we have done! But with everyone here, there and everywhere – sadly, it would be hard. Anyway, they all know I love them so we can get together and have a late celebration (we do not need an excuse or persuasion haha).

Here are my Galentines – Jessamyn, Mollie, Katie and Jess.

I get so so excited to hear when Jessamyn is coming back from university as it always put a smile on my face seeing her and pizza is always a definite. Mollie, also my cousin, I text her constantly. I would go as far as to say she is my rock. From the decision of whether I should go to the gym or in a meltdown about jobs – Mollie is there. Katie, I lived with at university in our final year and we’ve grown up together, shes the pepper to my salt haha. And, finally, Jess, who I only met over a year ago now but shes is a gem! One of life’s lovely people and I am lucky to have her.

So happy Galentines to this fabulous four!

Blogmas day 8: Peggy Porschen Cakes

I entered a bloggers paradise here at Peggy Porschen Cakes! And there was even a blogger perched on the steps under the beautiful doorway with her professional photographer snapping away.

This explosion of pink against the dark London road is an instant uplift especially on the wet cloudy day like ours! You can always rely on the English weather not to let you down ha ha.

Blogmas Day 7: 2017 and the Future

I have mixed emotions towards 2017. In some ways it has been the year in which I have achieved so much and in another way it has been the toughest. Never did I think I could cry so much, love so much, laugh so much and work so bloody hard!

I started the year as a 3rd year student at university stressing over my deadline dissertation and thinking of new year resolutions. And now, I am a masters student undertaking my absolute dream course but it has not been the easiest road and I have not let myself enjoy my first term as much as I could. But with the help and support from lots of lovely people, going into 2018 hopefully will be a positive one.

Blogmas Day 1: Feeling Festive

It only felt like yesterday that I posted my final 12th day of blogmas last year and we are here again on the 1st December?! Where has this year gone? But we are finally back to my favorite time of year and I am feeling incredibly festive! From listening to Christmas song in October, watching at least 4 Christmas films, purchasing Christmas pudding slippers (I know amazing – Primark!), Christmas PJs and having one of the best advent calenders winking at me for the past month!!

Sunny Days in St Ives

My trip to Cornwall now feels a lifetime ago now I am back at university but the sunny day in St Ives remains there in my memories! It was here I had my delicious Cornish pasty and got very red shoulders!

Discover Porthleven

I have been to Cornwall a number of times but never before had I visited or even heard of Porthleven. I can’t believe I never had because it was so beautiful.

Porthleven is England’s most southerly port and is literally brimming with history. This quaint little port is so picturesque, with white cottages contrasting again the bright blue sea, and filled with shops and restaurants.

The Most Amazing House in Cornwall

Thursday morning I was up bright eyed and bushy tailed standing on the platform at Paddington station ready to undertake my journey to Newquay, Cornwall. I had been to Cornwall previously and it is just one of the most beautiful parts of England and I urge everyone to go and visit at some point! You just would not believe you are even in England with the white sand beaches and turquoise sea!
